The welcome bonus for TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite is 15,000 Aeroplan Miles. You would be eligible to earn this welcome bonus as soon as you make your first purchase on the card. This offer is valid until 8 September 2020. Your welcome bonus points will be credited to your Aeroplan Member account associated to your TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite card. The points may not reflect immediately as it may take up to 8 weeks to have your welcome bonus points credited to your account. 

15,000 Aeroplan Miles is basically worth a short-haul roundtrip flight in Economy class from the Fixed Mileage flights in the Aeroplan Rewards chart. A short-haul flight in this case would mean a flight departing from within Canada or the continental US which would cost around $300 in valuation.

TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite falls under the Aeroplan program which avails different redemption options for the Aeroplan Miles you earn on your card. The varied redemption options include flight tickets, merchandise, gift cards, car rentals, hotels, vacation packages, or mile donations.

You can transfer your miles to another person’s Aeroplan account at a rate of 2 cents/1 Mile. The minimum and maximum Aeroplan Miles you can transfer at a time ie 1,000 Aeroplan Miles and 999,999 Aeroplan Miles respectively. The maximum number of transfer transactions you can do is 5 transactions (donations or receptions) per account per calendar year

TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite performs at best with travel (aircanada.com purchases), drug store, gas and groceries related purchases at a rate of 1.5 Aeroplan Miles per $1 spent. However, it’s important to take note that the 1.5 Aeroplan Miles per $1 spent does not include Air Canada Vacations packages, car rentals, hotel bookings, and other third-party partner products and services on the Air Canada site.

#5 Annual Benefits vs. Annual Fee

The annual fee for the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite card is $120 which is a moderate annual fee rate. The annual benefits are travel related with comprehensive travel insurance, Visa Infinite benefits – concierge, food and wine experiences, luxury hotel collection and access to the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge as a primary cardholder. 

To add on, you get to save by 10% off locally and 5% off internationally on Avis and Budget car rental services at the base rates as a TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite cardholder. 

The cherry on the cake is you get add-on travel perks when you redeem an Aeroplan Flight Reward from your Aeroplan account. These perks include complimentary first checked bag, priority check-in and priority boarding and one-Time Guest Access Benefit to an Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge. 

For $120 in a total year’s cost, you stand to earn a decent return assuming you are an avid traveler.

#6 Referral Program

TD does not have a referral program for credit cards. However, TD awards you $50 cash per successful referral for checking accounts. The $50 cash will be deposited into your account within 60 days after the requirements have been met as long as accounts are in good standing. 

You can refer up to 10 friends per calendar year which allows you to earn up to $500 per calendar year.

The referral value is mediocre in comparison to other credit cards such as Amex Platinum referral

#7 Travel Insurance

Emergency Medical Insurance (Out of province/country) Up to $1 million of coverage for the first 21 days. If you or your spouse is aged 65 or older, you are covered for the first 4 days of your trip.
Travel Accident Insurance Up to $500,000 of coverage for covered losses while traveling on a common carrier (for example, a bus, ferry, plane, train or auto rental).
Trip Cancelation Insurance Up to $1,500 of coverage per insured person, with a maximum of $5,000 for all insured persons
Trip Interruption Insurance Up to $5,000 of coverage per insured person, with a maximum of $25,000 for all insured persons on the same covered trip.
Baggage Delay & Flight Delay Insurance Up to $1,000 overall coverage per insured person toward the purchase of essentials such as clothes and toiletries if your baggage is delayed more than 6 hours or lost.

The travel insurance coverage in TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite is rather comprehensive which covers all areas required excluding Hotel/Motel Burglary Insurance. Nonetheless, it makes the travel insurance coverage on the card pretty solid especially the Travel Interruption Insurance (up to $5000) and Travel Accident Insurance (up to $500,000) which is above the average given by other Canadian credit cards.

#8 Purchase Coverage

TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite does not disappoint and provides excellent purchase coverage. You automatically have purchase coverage for 90 days from the day of purchase for stolen or damaged purchases.

The item purchased under your card will also have double the warranty given by the supplier (up to a period of 12 additional months). It would depend on the lesser period and that would be your added warranty coverage by your card.

#9 Foreign Transaction Fees

Unfortunately, there is a foreign transaction fee imposed on the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite at a rate of 2.5% which is standard across many Canadian credit cards. The cash advance fee is on the average available amount which is $5.
