At Yore Oyster, we strive to help you make wise financial decisions. We're committed to giving you the most relevant, actionable advice anywhere.

Banco Pan and the Cartao Pan are some of the most solid options if you’re looking for both a good credit card and a great digital account. Banco Pan offers the Zero Annuity Cartao Pan, which as its name says, doesn’t have any sort of annuities. This card will also let you participate in the exclusive Pan Mais Offers Club and install your credit card invoice up to 18 times. On the other hand, the Banco Pan digital account offers withdrawals, deposits, TEDs and DOCs for free with a shared pool of 30 transactions per month.

Banco Pan’s digital account and Zero Annuity Cartao Pan aren’t one of the most feature-rich in the scene, but they do their job. We recommend this card to people who are looking for an easy to obtain credit card while avoiding annuities. On top of that, you would also be looking at the benefit of a good digital account. So, are you ready to try Banco Pan?

Tired of feeling like you’re never in control of your finances? Say goodbye to that feeling with the coming of virtual banks into the bank scene of Brasil. Not only do these banks facilitate the use and control of your money, but they also offer the same benefits as a regular bank, and some are even better. That’s why we’ll be talking about the Cartao Pan variants and some benefits of Banco Pan’s digital account. Ready to give this bank a try?

Before we start talking about the main topic of this review, let’s give a little introduction since some of you may not know Banco Pan.

What Is Banco Pan?

Banco Pan is a recognized banking institution in Brasil that has been working for almost 25 years, with its headquarters in Sao Paulo. Since its foundation in 1990, the institution was known as Banco PanAmericano and operated in areas like vehicle and retail financing, credit cards and a lot more. It wasn’t until 2013 that the bank renamed itself as Banco Pan and started offering its digital accounts along with their well-known credit cards.

Being a client of Banco Pan will grant you the following benefits:

  • Access to a multitude of Credit Cards, both Visa and MasterCard.
  • A free digital account.
  • Transfer to other banks.
  • Withdrawals.
  • Transfers between other Pan accounts.
  • Expense control through the Banco Pan app.
  • Investment opportunities.
  • Vehicle financing.
  • Loyalty rewards program Pan Mais.
  • Special discounts at certain retailers.

For the sake of consistency, we’ll only focus on the different credit cards that Banco Pan offers and some features of the digital account. Let’s head into the Cartao Pan specifics!

Cartao Pan Credit Cards: Zero Annuity, Gold, Platinum And More

Banco Pan specializes as a virtual banking institution by offering unique credit cards to all types of customers. They don’t take the regular approach that other banks like Neon, C6 or even BS2 do by offering debit cards at first. Instead, Banco Pan offers credit cards exclusively with all their digital accounts and hey, they’re pretty amazing. Here’s a list of all the credit cards available with Banco Pan:

  • Basic Credit Card
  • Zero Annuity Credit Card
  • International Credit Card
  • Gold Credit Card
  • Platinum Credit Card

An important feature to know is that all cards come in either Visa or MasterCard versions with unique benefits. When applying for your digital account and credit card, you can choose between the two, but this choice won’t have a big impact on the overall service. Now let’s get into the specifics for the protagonists of this review:

Basic Pan Credit Card: Cartao Pan

This is the most run of the mill credit card you can get with Banco Pan. As we mentioned earlier, it comes with the Visa or MasterCard flag depending on the one you chose at the moment of your application.

The Basic Credit Card does come with an annuity of R$12,00 x 7 or a total of R$84,00 per year. Here’s a list of the main benefits it offers:

  • Expense Control through the Banco Pan app.
  • Access to Pan Mais Offers Club.
  • MasterCard Surprise or Vai de Visa programs.
  • Minimum income: Minimum Wage.
  • International shopping.
  • Banco Pan digital account.

This is one of the easiest cards to get when opening an account with Banco Pan, but one of its main caveats is that it’s not eligible for the Pan Mais loyalty rewards program. This severely hinders an otherwise good card, even if the annuity per year is of such a low amount.

All Pan credit cards have a very recognizable design elements to them.

Either way, having a credit card is good enough by itself, so if you decide to get the Basic card, you’ll still get a pretty good credit card.

Now let’s get into what is probably the most interesting credit card out of all the available ones in Banco Pan:

Zero Annuity Pan Credit Card

This is the card we’ll be highlighting most in this article since its one of the most unique in both features and benefits. The Zero Annuity Pan Credit Card, as the name implies, has no annuity whatsoever. This card also serves as the middle ground between the basic card and the other Gold, Platinum and International versions.

The Zero Annuity Pan Credit Card basically functions as the Basic credit card but with no annuities. The fact that it asks for no annuity makes it unique in a scene where credit cards almost always come as a premium paid feature.

Here’s a list of the benefits of this credit card:

  • Expense Control through the Banco Pan app.
  • Access to Pan Mais Offers Club.
  • MasterCard Surprise or Vai de Visa programs.
  • Minimum income: Minimum Wage.
  • International shopping.
  • Banco Pan digital account.

Again, it offers the same benefits as the Basic card but without any kind of annuities or monthly fees. That’s why we consider this card as the protagonist of this article since it checks most features that we really value a lot. Plus, it comes with a great digital account as well, so it’s definitely worth having in mind if you’re only looking for credit cards. Although, it’s somewhat hindered by the fact that it doesn’t participate in the Pan Mais loyalty rewards program.

We’ll expand a bit more on the Zero Annuity Card, but now let’s talk about the rest of the cards that this bank offers.

International Pan Credit Card

The International credit card is a card that represents a step up in both features and benefits when compared to the first two. As you can probably guess, this card does have an annuity just like the Basic credit card, but this time it’s of R$20,00 x 12, or a total of R$240 per year. Due to this increase in annuity fees, the International credit card offers quite a bit more than the Zero Annuity and Basic cards. Here’s what you can get:

  • Expense Control and Limit by the app.
  • Pan Mais: For Every US$1, you accumulate 1 Pan point.
  • Access to Pan Mais Offers Club
  • Cashback on Invoice.
  • Minimum Income: Minimum Wage.
  • Mastercard Surprise or Vai de Visa programs.
  • International shopping.
  • Banco Pan digital account.

As with the other basic cards, this card also asks for a minimum income of at least a minimum wage. For the services and features, this is still a pretty good deal, but it might not be exactly what you’re looking for if you’re trying to avoid annuities. Also, don’t worry about the name, all Banco Pan credit cards work for international transactions.

The design might change depending on the card you choose. For example, this is one of the simpler and newest designs

Now let’s head into the second spot of the Banco Pan credit card hierarchy.

Cartao Pan Gold Credit Card

As for this card, it’s basically an upgrade of the International card, meaning that it offers more benefits but also asks for more requirements. The Gold Pan Credit Card asks for an annuity of R$29,16 x 12 or a total of R$349,92 per year, which is a lot more than the previous card. It also asks a minimum income of R$2.500,00 or more, which might be unreachable to some if not most average customers out there. Here’s the list of benefits you get with this card:

  • Expense Control and Limit by the app.
  • Pan Mais: For Every US$1 you spend, you accumulate 1,2 Pan points.
  • Access to the Pan Mais Offers Club.
  • Cashback on your invoice.
  • MasterCard Surprise or Vai de Visa programs.
  • International shopping.

The only thing that really differentiates the Gold Card from the international is that you earn more Pan points on your purchases. But in our opinion, the minimum income requirement and the cost of the annuity is way too much.

Let’s head into the last card before we can choose the best card out of these.

Cartao Pan Platinum Credit Card

Here’s where things really start to rack up in terms of both benefits and requirements. This card asks for an annuity of R$41,66 x 12 or R$499,92 per year. Do remember that this is almost double than the annuity of the international card. It also asks for a minimum income of at least R$5.000,00 or more. These are the features you get with this card:

  • Expense Control and Limit by the app.
  • Pan Mais: For Every US$1 you spend, you accumulate 1,5 Pan points.
  • Access to the Pan Mais Offers Club.
  • Cashback on your invoice.
  • MasterCard Surprise or Vai de Visa programs.
  • International shopping.
  • Banco Pan digital account.

The only difference compared to the Gold card is that you can accumulate more Pan points per every dollar spent. Also, the Platinum Pan Credit Card has exclusive features and offers in the Pan Mais loyalty rewards program.

If you meet the requirements this is quite a useful card in terms of benefits, features and usability. But to most other customers it might be unreachable.

As you can see, cards can be both Visa and Mastercard depending on the users’ choice.

Now that we’ve tackled those cards, let’s get into some specifics benefits they share.

Use + Pay Less

This feature comes with all the paid cards (International, Gold and Platinum) and it works in quite a unique way. This program lets you reduce your annuity fees by 25%, 50%, 75% and even 100% depending on your monthly spending. Take a look:

25%R$450,00 to R$899,00R$750,00 to R$1.499,00R$1.250,00 to R$2.499,00
50%R$900,00 to R$1.349,00R$1.500,00 to R$2.249,00R$2.500,00 to R$3.749,00
75%R$1.350 to R$1,799,00R$2.250 to R$2,999,01R$3.750,00 to R$4,099,00
100%More than R$1.800,00More than R$3.000,00More than R$5.000,00
Some discounts are easy to get while some are near impossible.

As you can see, getting some of these discounts will be relatively easy depending on both your income and your monthly spending. But either way, no discount can beat not having to pay anything with the Zero Annuity card.

Now let’s focus something you can’t get with the other basic cards, rewards:

Pan Mais: Rewards Program And Offers Club

Most digital banks that offer a credit option almost always have a loyalty program in order to reward customers who use their cards. That’s why we encounter Pan Mais within Banco Pan, a loyalty rewards program unique within this bank that divides itself into 2 main categories, the Rewards Program and the Offers Club.

Loyalty Rewards Program

With Pan Rewards, customers are given a certain amount of points per each US$ they spend, not Reals. This is somewhat confusing since most other banks grant points per each Real spent, not Dollar. At the moment of writing this review, 1 United States Dollar is valued at R$5,31, so per each R$5,31, you’ll earn 1 Pan point.

Regardless of the difficulty of gaining Pan points, Pan Mais is one of the most resourceful and extensive loyalty programs in Brasil. It includes more than 30 retailers in which you can exchange your points for discounts, products or even services. Some of the most well known are:

  • Phone Recharges
  • Gift Certificates
  • Decolar
  • Travelling
  • Ifood
  • Uber Eats
  • Dotz
  • English Live
  • Saraiva
  • Globo +
  • Carrefour

You can also use your points for Cashback purposes, returning your Pan points into credit you can use to pay your invoice. Also, it’s worth noting that only the International, Gold and Platinum Credit Cards are eligible for Pan point accumulation.

The Offers Club

This club lets you get exclusive offers at a wide variety of retailers, just like the loyalty rewards program but a lot more varied.

You’ll be able to apply for discounts with these brands, but most discounts range from 10% to 30% and even 50% on certain sites, Here are some of the most popular:

  • Viva Salute
  • Hurb
  • Vets
  • Empório Nestlé
  • Phillips
  • Camicado Club
  • Netshoes
  • Valesaúde
  • Loja Leiturinha
  • Movida
  • Asus
  • Eotica
  • NetMovies

Unlike the loyalty rewards program, every Pan credit card is eligible for these discounts, which makes each credit card a lot better. Most of these brands include home appliances, electronics, clothing stores, sports stores and a lot more just to satisfy every type of customer.

Now that we’ve covered the main aspects and features of all the credit cards and their rewards, let’s go into the one that interests us the most.

Cartao Pan Zero Annuity: Specifics, Visa, Mastercard And More

As we mentioned before, each credit card comes with either a Visa or MasterCard banner. The user can choose between the two credit card flags at the moment of applying for their credit card. Let’s get into the specific benefits of each card.

Cartao Pan Zero Annuity Visa

One thing you skip on if you apply for the Zero Annuity card instead of the International or the other more expensive ones is the loyalty rewards program. To remediate this a little bit, each credit card comes with the feature of participating in their respective banner’s loyalty programs. In the case of the Cartao Pan Zero Annuity Visa, it participates in the Vai de Visa program.

The Vai de Visa program is Visa’s own loyalty rewards program, which lets you participate and get exclusive discounts and offers. Some of the retailers mentioned in the Pan Mais loyalty program and the Offers Club also participate in this program, so it’s a benefit that stacks on top of the others.

Cartao Pan Zero Annuity MasterCard

In the case of the Cartao Pan Zero Annuity MasterCard version, you participate in the MasterCard Surprise program. This also works as a loyalty rewards program, but its main focus is to offer clients a chance to win a 2×1 bonus on their purchases. For each time you buy something with your Mastercard, you earn 1 Surprise points. From 5 points onwards you will participate for a 2×1 voucher with which you buy a product and take an extra one for free.

Now that we’ve talked about the main features on this card, let’s go over its main benefits and drawbacks.

Mastercard Visa credit cards virtual banks
Mastercard or Visa, you’ll be getting great loyalty reward programs either way.

Pros And Cons Of The Cartao Pan Zero Annuity

Here’s a rundown of the complete lists of benefits this card comes with:

  • Visa and/or Mastercard banner’s benefits.
  • Basic credit card features.
  • No annuities or monthly fees whatsoever.
  • Participation in the Pan Mais Offers Club.
  • Minimum income: minimum wage.
  • Expense control and limit from the app.
  • 1 Additional credit card at a time.
  • You’ll be able to install your credit card invoice up to 18 months, but the longer the term, the more you’ll end up paying in interests (Which were not disclosed).
  • A pretty good digital account which we’ll talk about later

Those are the standard benefits you get with this card, but now that we’ve gotten those out of the way, let’s talk about the most prominent drawbacks

  • This card is somewhat limited when compared to the others with annuities.
  • You can only have 1 copy of your card at a time, which might be a dealbreaker for some.
  • Has an income requirement of at least minimum wage. It might not be that much, but other credit cards don’t ask for a specific income.
  • The bank is somewhat known for not having the best customer service.
  • Your credit card application might take up to a maximum of 14 days. If you don’t hear back from them, you will need to get in touch with them.
  • You end up missing features like the Pan Mais loyalty rewards program.

The Zero Annuity Pan Credit Card is still a very valid option if you’re looking for a fairly easy to obtain credit card. Sure, you’re gonna get a credit card with basic functions, but do remember that you’re also avoiding any sort of annuities.

Getting a credit card without annuities is already good by itself, but what if that credit card comes with an also great digital account? Keep reading to learn more!

So, are you ready for the full Banco Pan experience?

Credit, Debit, Loans, Investments And A Lot More Alternatives

If you’re not a fan of the features we’ve described of this particular product then you might be looking for something else. Here are some of our favourites, which you might enjoy instead of Banco Pan

Banco Neon

Banco Neon is always an easy pick when recommending a virtual account with credit and debit options. Not only that, but it’s also one of the easiest accounts to get in the whole virtual bank scene as of now. The only downside to Neon is that it only offers 1 free withdrawal per month, but that can be extended to 4 if you use your card 10 times or more per month.

You can learn more about Banco Neon and the Neon debit and credit card in this review.

C6 Bank

C6 Bank is another one of those options that are really easy to recommend. In fact, this might be one of the most feature-rich virtual banks in brasil as the moment of writing with unlimited withdrawals, TEDs, DOCs and deposits. The only real downside to C6 is that the only credit option it offers is the C6 Carbon card, or in other words, a Mastercard Black. This bank is definitely aimed for high-income customers, but either way, it still offers what probably is the most feature-rich experience.

You can learn a lot more about C6 Bank in this review.

This virtual bank is probably the best choice if instead of looking for credit card options, you’re looking for investing and international accounts. Although BS2 doesn’t offer credit cards as of now, they offer some of the most thorough options for investing and an international account that can support up to 6 types of currencies.

You can learn more about Banco BS2 in this review.

Cartao Pan And Banco Pan: In Summary

One way or the other Banco Pan and the Pan Credit Card are still some great options if you’re looking for a digital account and a credit card. For our readers, we will always recommend the Zero Annuity Credit card, since it’s a credit card without annuities, that comes with a great digital account. The best part about this is that both the card and the digital account are free and they only ask for minimum wage in terms of income. So, are you ready to have your first experience with Banco Pan?
