NuCamp is a part-time web development and software engineering bootcamp that offers three programs at three different levels: Web Development Fundamentals, Front End Web + Mobile Developer and Full Stack Web and Mobile App Developer. They offer a hybrid learning experience in which students study online during weekdays and attend in-person workshops every Saturday.

NuCamp also offers a Fair Student Agreement payment plan that benefits all their students and offers refunds for those who don’t graduate. If you would like to learn more, click on the button below.

Nucamp is a part-time, online and in-person course that teaches web development and software engineering and guarantees to find a job within six months after graduation. They offer one of the most affordable bootcamps in the market, with a cost of $1,880 for their 22-week full-stack program with early enrollment, also offering a monthly payment plan.

They hold in-person workshops every Saturday when there are more than six students in a city and offer video conferences when there are less than six. Students may have to attend these workshops online or in-person, depending on how many students enroll in their area. Nucamp offers three programs:

  • Web Development Fundamentals.
  • Front End Web + Mobile Developer.
  • Full Stack Web and Mobile App Developer

Who Is It For?

Nucamp helps non-coders in the US effectively learn about web development and software engineering and then help them find jobs in the field. All of their programs are part-time, so it is perfect for students who also have full-time jobs. They also offer a Hybrid learning environment, which means students will study both online during the week and in-person during Saturday workshops.

Students are not required to have prior coding experience for the Web Development Fundamentals program. However, enrollment in the Front End and Full Stack programs requires knowing HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Features & Benefits

Here are a few of the most important features and benefits of Nucamp:

#1 Well-Aligned Incentives

Nucamp offers a Fair Student Agreement (FSA) that allows their alumni to pay around $8 to $16 until graduation and then $89 to $130 for eighteen or twelve months after graduation. This allows them to concentrate on studying and gives them time to find the right job for them without worrying about high-interest rates.

They also give their students 1-on-1 career coaching to help them find jobs in software engineering upon graduation and courses are taught in 96 different locations.

#2 No Experience Needed

If a student doesn’t have any previous coding experience, they can start by enrolling in the Web Development Fundamentals program. This course will help its students learn the basics of web development and software engineering so that they can continue through this career path at a comfortable pace.

The only real requirement that Nucamp has is to bring a laptop the the workshops. Otherwise, students won't be able to work on their assignments.

#3 Hybrid Bootcamp Format

Every Nucamp program is both online during the week with in-person workshops that meet in a network of cafes and co-working locations like WeWork, Impact Hub and other places that also make coding more affordable across the United States. These workshops are held every Saturday. This grants students a flexible schedule that allows them to work full-time jobs while completing their education.

If by any chance there aren't enough students in a location to do an in-person workshop, then it will take place through a video conference.

#4 Mentorship

All courses have an instructor in charge of giving each student hands-on help whenever needed. They are in charge of leading workshops and helping students with any problems they might run into during the week. Their job is to make sure that students are never stuck in a problem they don't understand or because of a bug in their code.

They are also the same career coaches that support and guide students to success. Instructors have the expertise and knowledge to teach their students how to code and succeed professionally.

#5 Lifetime Benefits

Lifetime Access to Course Content and Community will allow graduates to keep their skills sharp and get some extra practice if needed. Enrolling in any of their programs will grant lifetime access to all of its content. Graduates will be able to review specific subjects or redo the whole course with full access to the instructor's community.

The instructor community is very active and has become a valuable resource for graduates who want to connect with their local web development communities.

#6 Alumni Network

After graduation, everyone will receive a Nucamp exclusive invitation to a LinkedIn Alumni Group. In this group, graduates will be able to expand their professional network and reach out for their peers' support and recommendations.

This is a private group, but anyone who wishes to check it out may do so here, and these are some people who might be in the group:

Costs & Payment Plans

Nucamp offers both a Fair Student Agreement (FSA) and scholarships for their students:

Fair Student Agreement (FSA)

The FSA allows students to pay fees as low as $8/month until you graduate, and then $85/month for 18 months or $125/month for 12 months, instead of an Income Sharing Agreement (ISA) that would require said student to pay 15% of their salary for the next 5 years.

FSAs are offered through a partnership with Climb Credit and are subject to terms and conditions created by Climb Credit Loan Agreements Repayment schedules don't change, even if the graduation date changes and cannot be extended once bootcamp starts.

They have three options of FSA:

  • Best Deal: pay in 5 parts, interest-free.
  • Faster Repayment: pay for the $100 deposit, and then monthly payments will start on the first day of class and last for 12 to 18 months.
  • Most Flexible: pay or the $100 deposit, then a very low monthly fee until graduation, and then pay a slightly higher one for 12 to 18 months.

Nucamp's standard cancellation policy is applied to the tuition and registration fee in the same way, regardless of the selected FSA. But financing fees and interests paid on agreements subscribed through Climb Credit are not refundable.

Here’s a comparison between the FSA and the ISA:

Scholarships

Nucamp also offers a scholarship for students who need economical support. These scholarships can cover up to 25% off any of their bootcamps. Students who qualify for ReSkill America will also receive a Laptop.

They offer four different scholarships:

First, the Best Buy Bounce Back is given to Best Buy and Fry’s former employees, considering that Fry’s closed and Best Buy has had to lay off 5,000 employees.

Second, is the “Nu You” which is a scholarship for those who were denied a student loan recently. This helps students who are not eligible for these loans due to low or no credit, bankruptcy or delinquencies.

Third, is the Warrior Rising is a scholarship for active-duty members and veterans. This scholarship is given in partnership with Warriors Rising to help them start, maintain and expand small businesses.

Fourth, ReSkill America is a scholarship designed for students who were impacted by COVID-19 and want to start a tech career path. These students also join Career Karma’s ReSkill America Laptop Initiative.

Nucamp’s four scholarships funds will be distributed among students as follows:

  • $50 off the Web Development Fundamentals Bootcamp.
  • $370 for a $1,480 tuition (early enrollment), or $445 for a $1,780 tuition (regular) off the Front End Web + Mobile Development Bootcamp.
  • $376 for a $1,880 tuition (early enrollment), or $436 for a $2,180 tuition (regular) off the Full Stack Web and Mobile Development Bootcamp.

How To Apply

Nucamp does not have an application process. Instead, anyone interested should go to their website to find a program they like and register for said course. The registration process has three steps:

First, everyone interested should think about their goals, their current experience level, and which program better adapts to their particular needs.

Second, select the program that fits you best, its start date and its location.

Third, choose a payment plan and put down the deposit. If you choose the upfront option, you will have to pay the entire tuition fee. However, if you apply for an FSA, your deposit will only be $100.

It’s important to note that students must qualify for the FSA option. This will require them to choose it their preferred payment plan and apply for a loan from Climb Credit.
