Many sites that list benefit payment dates are really there to sell loans, or they chase clicks with headlines about “new payments” that don’t exist. Yore Oyster works differently. Here’s exactly what you can count on from us.
Our promise to you
- No loans, ever. We will never advertise payday loans, “benefit advances”, cash-for-your-cheque offers or anything that charges you to get money you’re already owed.
- No clickbait. We will never announce a “new payment” that the government hasn’t announced. When a rumour spreads, we check it against official sources and tell you plainly if it’s true or false.
- Every date comes from the government. Each payment date and amount on this site comes from an official government page, and we link to that page so you can check it yourself.
- Checked every 15 minutes. Our system re-reads the official pages for every benefit on this site every 15 minutes, day and night. A change is only published after it has been checked a second time against the official page. Every update is listed on our change log, with the date.
- We never ask for your personal information. Our calendar, Benefits Checkup and calculators never ask for your name, Social Insurance Number, birth date or bank details, and what you type stays on your own device. If anyone asks you for those to “release” a benefit, it’s a scam.
- We’re independent. Yore Oyster isn’t a government website. We’re paid by ads and a few partners, never by the government, and never for what we say. How we make money.
If we get something wrong
We work hard to be right, but governments change dates and rules, and mistakes can happen. If you see a date, amount or rule that doesn’t match the official source, please tell us.
- Email [email protected] with the page and what looks wrong. A link to the official page helps, but isn’t required.
- We check every report against the official government source.
- We aim to fix confirmed errors within one business day, and date or amount errors right away.
- Every correction to a date, amount or rule is recorded on our public change log, so nothing is changed quietly.
When the government is the final word
Our dates are the government’s published dates. Your own payment can still differ if your file changes, for example after a review, a move or a missed tax return. Service Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency and your province always have the final say on your own benefits.
