Posts say people on the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) are getting an extra $150. Some get the details right. Others add wrong dates, say everyone with a disability gets it, or ask you to click a link to claim it.
What’s actually true
On September 10, 2026, the federal government announced a one-time $150 supplemental payment for CDB recipients. Its purpose is to help cover the cost of getting the Disability Tax Credit (DTC), which you must have to qualify for the CDB.

According to the government, it also goes to people who received CDB payments in the past but are no longer eligible. It’s paid per approved DTC certificate.
You do not need to apply. The government says the payment is issued automatically to everyone who qualifies.
What it is not
- It is not a monthly increase. The regular CDB is still up to $204.20 a month from July 2026 to June 2027.
- It is not for everyone with a disability. It’s tied to the CDB and the DTC.
- It is not something you claim through a link, a text or a phone call.
Where the confusion comes from
The payment is real, which makes it easy for scammers to use. Posts may say it’s “$150 a month,” mix it up with the yearly CDB total of about $2,400, or send you to a fake form. Some people also expected it on the regular CDB payment date. The first round was paid on Thursday, September 17, 2026, the same day as that month’s CDB payment.
If you think you should have got it
If you got CDB payments between July 2025 and June 2026 and nothing came on September 17, 2026, follow Canada.ca’s general advice and wait 5 to 10 business days. Then check your account and call the CDB line at 1-833-486-3007 (TTY 1-833-467-2700). The line is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm local time.
If you were approved after June 2026, your $150 is scheduled for winter 2027. No exact date had been published when we checked.
Scam warning
Because this payment is real and in the news, expect fake messages about it. Service Canada won’t ask for personal information by text, email or a link. Nobody needs your banking password, a fee or a gift card to send you this payment.
