Plan ahead: the December 23 payment comes early, before the holidays, and the next one usually isn’t until late January. It has to last longer than usual.

If it hasn't arrived by the end of the payment day, check with your bank, then check My VAC Account or call Veterans Affairs Canada at 1-866-522-2122 (French 1-866-522-2022), Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm local time. From the US: 1-888-996-2242.

Who can get VAC Pension for Life
Pain and Suffering Compensation: you're a Canadian Armed Forces member or Veteran (or current or former RCMP member) with a diagnosed condition related to your service. It's tax-free, paid monthly for life or as a lump sum. Additional Pain and Suffering Compensation: you already get a disability benefit, and your service-related condition is severe, permanent and a barrier to life after service. Income Replacement Benefit: taxable monthly income, at least 90% of your pre-release military salary, while you're in VAC's Rehabilitation Program or have a diminished earning capacity (reduced at 65); some survivors and orphans also qualify.

Apply online through My VAC Account (guided forms), or download the form and mail it or drop it off at a VAC office, CAF Transition Centre or Service Canada office. For help, call 1-866-522-2122. veterans.gc.ca
